Revival of Lost Hope 5

Revival of Lost Hope 5

Finding Yeukai

A doctor had been working so hard saving people’s lives since the day he graduated. It had been six years in service when he decided to relocate and move to a new place where he could erect his own clinic. His was a passion to save lives, not to earn large sums of money at the expense of people’s illness.

It wasn’t an easy decision to take. There were a lot of sacrifices to make in the course of doing so. This meant moving away from family and friends, having to start a totally new life surrounded by total strangers.

However, the hassles were worth it if it meant saving more lives. The next challenge was where he was to move to. This was the greatest challenging question of all.

Himself, he didn’t even know where he was going to move to. Friends advised him all the big cities and fancy places, but his heart rejected. His destination was not a luxurious place. His heart was somewhere he hoped his services would really be in great demand.

Luckily, he had a very intelligent friend by his side. Although younger than him, google was intelligent to tell everything he didn’t even know where so important. He did his research and kept on bumping into a town called Mususui.

For some reason he felt Mususui was his final destination. His colleagues, family and friends did not understand why such a blunt decision.

However, he was clever enough not to just jump into immediate conclusion. He decided he would tour Mususui for a month or so to acknowledge everything or most about it. Once satisfied, then maybe it would really be his final destination. The doctor went off on his tour and found himself in Mususui. Finally.

The first two days were spent sleeping and relaxing. Then on the third day he went out. He was a lover of fauna and flora, so he decided the day would be for a nature walk.

He went out into a thick forest that he thought might be interesting for a lonely walk. Somehow the flowing Sembene River stole away his attention. He drew closer and closer to it until he found himself standing on its banks.

That was when he turned to his side and saw someone lying on the bank. He tried to wake her up,  but she was long gone. That was when he looked around and saw the packet to the rat poison.

Right away he realized that she had taken some poison. Although in short supply, this was the divine coincidence Yeukai had always been praying for everyday. She had prayed for someone who would take her into his arms and save her.

However, her prayers did not include delivery from death. Her hopes had been someone who would take her away from Mazhambe’s stronghold.

It had taken so long for her prayer to be answered, but was tired now. She was no longer patient to withstand such suffering. Ergo, she had taken to her own decision and attempted suicide.

Hove Gets Arrested
Hove gave Yeukai a roof above her head and promised to send her back to school. This was something she had not anticipated coming her way. She had been withdrawn from school because of the Mazhambe saga and her dreams of becoming a doctor had been shattered. Fortunately, a heaven sent angel had come with a promise to revive that long lost dream.

One morning, as they were preparing to go out they heard a knock on the door. Hove instructed Yeukai to attend the visitors as he wrapped up. To her surprise behind the knock was two police men who asked to see Hove. She ushered them inside and asked them to wait for him as he finished what he was up to.

Hove came rushing to meet the visitors whom he didn’t recognise. The senior officer greeted him politely and handed him a warranty for his arrest.

“What am I being arrested for?” asked Hove.
“Sir, this woman you are staying with is someone’s wife. Did you know that?” said the officer.

“She’s not his wife, you are mistaken. He lied to you,” answered Hove.

“Mr. Hove you have the right to remain silent, everything you say can and will be used against the court of law. You also have the right to a lawyer, if you can’t afford one the state will provide you one,” said the second officer as he handcuffed Hove.

“No remove the cuffs,” said the senior officer. “We do not need to create a scene. Shall we go Mr Hove?”

Yeukai tried to explain to the officers that she was not married to any man. Alas, they turned a deaf ear to her. She pleaded to herself alone and followed them to the station.

“Can I please make some phone calls,” requested Hove.

“You may,” said the senior officer.

Hove called his lawyer and asked him to make his way to Mususui immediately. He made it clear that he didn’t want to spend the day in a prison cell. As soon as he hung up the call he reached his father who also dropped everything he was up to and headed for Mususui.

If the officers knew that they had tempered with the wrong eggs they would have rectified their mistakes. Regrettably, they felt above the law also.

At the police station; Yeukai upon stepping her feet into building fainted. Her eyes had met the old figure of the same man she had run away from. Hove was completely surprised as to what had just happened, but the bandages around the man’s head gave him a clue. He remained quiet and calm until his lawyer came through.

The officers together with the old man intimidated Hove and Yeukai as if they were nobodies. Hove looked at Yeukai and asked her to remain calm. In about forty five minutes or so, a fleet of cars was noticed entering the police station premises.

It was not an ordinary fleet but ministerial. Then one prominent Minister of Home Affairs coming off one of the cars which left everyone in awe.

“What is the minister doing in Mususui?”

That was the question that ran around all the people’s minds except for Hove. Minister Edward Hove was his father and he had come to understand why they had disturbed his son’s peace.

Immediately, upon entering the building every police man stood at attention. The minister stormed to the reception and asked to see the main officer in charge, who was already on his way to welcome him.

The minister turned and met with the senior officer in charge. “Where is my son?” he asked calmly.

“Sorry sir, when did your son come here?” responded the officer.

“Are you Hove’s father, they took him back there,” said Yeukai as she pointed down the corridor.

The minister and the officer in charge went down the corridor only to find the two officers preparing whips to give Hove a thorough beating. The old man was there with them instructing them not to spare him.

“He should suffer and never run away with people’s wives again,” said the old man. He broke into a wild and evil laughter while the two cops paused and looked confused.

“What are you waiting for, is that what I’m paying for, just to stand there confused. Deal with this young boy.”

To his shock, the old man felt a huge hand land on his shoulder. He looked back and saw one of the last faces he expected to see in Mususui.

The man tried to run away but age had taken the best of him. He got a cramp on his right leg and fell to the ground. He could not move to anywhere. The minister’s guards were called in and dealt very well with the trio

They were aware that the old man was into human trafficking and had always received a huge share of the cake from him to always cover up his footprints.

Yeukai told the police where it had all started. She gave the whole narration of how Mazhambe had been selling off young girls to old men who believed that if they slept with virgins they would be healed. How they had been sex slaves for the enrichment of someone’s pocket.

A warrant for the arrest of Mazhambe was issued. The old man was ransacked at his mansion and up to fifty young girls were recovered. Almost all of these girls had been reported missing for years now.

Hove kept his promise and enrolled Yeukai into high school where she excelled delightfully. On his own side, he partnered with Dr Chimutashu at the Beezar Hospital whilst his own structure was still a work in progress.

The End.
